Whenever I meet my ex-colleagues who are still at a corporate job, earning well, on a stable career path at a global MNC, they all seem to talk about a number. A number achieving which, they can take an ‘early retirement’, when I ask how did u arrive at that number, they point to FIRE frauds like @ravihanda 😅 Within two more arguments, they realise A) It’s a mythical number, extrapolating their current expenses. Not accounting for any lifestyle creep. B) They have no idea what they will do after ‘retiring’. They have spent all their lives chasing grades/CTCs they have no hobbies. Some of you might have it, but you will still spend your day-time, refreshing your portfolio. C) When you are Asset rich yet cashflow poor, you mentally live like a pauper. Unless there is a huge liquidity event, SIPs cut from your Salary won’t make you financially independent in its truest sense.
@GabbbarSingh Good points. I’m a living example of exceptions to your point C mainly because assets do produce cash flow.
@GabbbarSingh With all the existing fraud finfluencers, @ravihanda who is still doing some genuine work be like:

Calculating a financial freedom corpus doesn't work on any thumb rules. How can it? It's 'personal' finance after all. For God's sake, it's such an important decision of anyone's life, it's important to do proper customised and scientific calculations and keep sufficient buffers even above your calculations. I achieved freedom 8 years back at the age of 42, and the scientific calculations have been converted into a website for anyone to use. Not to mention that we keep tuning the website for special scenarios based on my daily interactions with freedom seekers. It's free for anyone to use. manoj-arora.com #FinancialFreedom #financialplanning
@GabbbarSingh Most important is the cash flow…. Your cash flow should be able to cover your expenses + handle inflation
