Trying to navigate academia alone when you’re 10k km away from your home and family is a special kind of brutally. I think I’m ready to go home and start again. There’s only so many rejections I can take while being this alone. I am not lonely, but I feel very alone.

Wanna bet that the PhD on campus who attacked the BAs for their political views will be rewarded with a Professor position while the rest of the cohort was told we don’t hire our own and you have zero chance to have a job without a PD fellowship.

Academia requiring an application that is easily 70+ pages to be MAILED is just insanity. I understand if it’s for later rounds… but just for the chance for a document review?!?! Email. Email exists.

It is soul crushing to be treated like an idiot because I am not fluent in my 4th language by monoglots who supposedly had a bilingual education but can only effectively communicate in one language and refuse to use the other.
