TxLEAP accreditation lasts four years, with a report or a review each year. Every year is an accreditation year. Compliments and complaints arrive all year too. We think each one belongs on one clear record. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve.

Could you count last year's compliments and complaints? A council or board member may ask. There's no score. If one of these was hard to answer, or you'd add one we missed, send us a message or email [email protected]. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve.

When someone thanks one of your people by name, does that person hear about it? Does their supervisor? Do people who get in touch hear back? Whether it was thanks or a concern, hearing nothing can feel like no one listened.

Every compliment and complaint lands somewhere. Your agency already has a process for them, and these eight questions help you see where each one goes. Can you list every way they reach you? A way in that no one has listed is easy to leave unchecked.

Residents sent warm cookies, plums and breakfast tacos to the Memorial Villages Police Department. Its Sept 18 weekly report thanked them back. We think every thank-you deserves to be seen, and kept on record. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve.

Thank-yous and concerns can come in by phone, email, letter or form. The sorting can fall to one person, who can end up labeling each one and keeping the count for the council. Both belong on one clear record. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve.

Today is National Coffee with a Cop Day. Officers and residents sit down over coffee and talk about the neighborhood and the speeding on the corner. If there's one near you, stop by and say hello. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve. #CoffeeWithACop

Tonight is National Night Out across Texas, where neighbors meet local officers, firefighters and medics. If one of them helped you this year, thank them for what they did. Then let their department know too. Supporting those who serve. Empowering those they serve.
