I'm not saying the metric "isn't right"... I'm saying, why pay attention to it when you have context? Would another guy make the play? We'll never know bc the situation shades all plays. Comparing a ball off the wall to a ball in the grass/green turf is misguided.

Agreed. Some of the best coaches I've ever had never played in the big leagues, and some of the worst I have had, did play in the big leagues. There were not many of those guys. Most big league coaches have a really good feel and understanding of the game and they NEVER forgot…

Experiential fact: Roughly 80% of hitter issues are related to timing or not preparing to swing. Symptoms of this include poor pitch selection, grooved or rushed swing, passiveness or poor barrel placement. Don't start tinkering with mechanics at the first sign of struggle.

Unwritten rule #8. Stealing signs is OK, just don't get caught. Some books say sign stealing is taboo but it's not. If your signs are easy enuf to steal, it's YOUR fault. If you get caught sign stealing, someone gets hit. If you get caught, it's YOUR fault. Get it?
