Hey @espn you are missing a fun programming opportunity. For your CFP beauty pageant next year, run a proper pageant with Coach Interviews, Video Shorts, a Swimsuit Competition, and Talent Shows, e.g. a QB playing guitar, an OLine dance #. The CFP is not sports, so go for it.

Who's "best?" Who cares? What even is that? No one has to talk like this for MLB NFL NBA NHL etc. playoffs and championships because that elusive subjective factor is irrelevant --which is table stakes to be a sport. The CFP is just an entertainment venture run by TV companies.

Yes, FSU got screwed, but come on. Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia and others have equal claims. This simply isn't how sports operate. CFB is fun, and each game is a sport. The championship simply is not legit; rather, it's an entertainment product run by TV companies.

There is an alternative to this TV-driven entertainment pageant. It is possible to have an actual playoff in CFB. One exists. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Divi….

CFB has a governance problem. The NCAA has no control. TV people run it for entertainment as a sports-infused pageant, not as a sport. Super conferences and the "playoff" are at the pleasure of TV. And the big universities are happy to take the money offered. cc @SportsSturm

How did ESPN and CFB trick fans and analysts into caring about "best?" "Best" does not exist in sports. The only thing that matters is wins/losses, and objective criteria for playoff entry. CFB lacks the governance structure to operate like a sport. It's a pageant run by TV.
