Prestige journals say that they want diversity of "gender, race, location, career stage, yadda yadda" in their reviewer pool but that seems to me like a bunch of hot air. I guess they would rather ask the next white American professor on their list, amirite?

Free advice for PIs: before blurting out whatever crappy experiment request for a student/postdoc to do, stop for a moment and ask yourself: (a) what question do I want to answer with this experiment? and (b) is this a question worth answering? You'll be amazed at the results 🙃

European academia is so endogamous. People do their bachelor's, master's and PhD in the same university, maybe just go for a postdoc somewhere else, and return to be PIs in the same place they've always been. Inclusion and diversity? Yeah, right. 🙄 #AcademicChatter #PostDocLife

Hey PIs: stop using grad students/postdocs as highly qualified technicians. Having them waste days or even weeks fixing lab equipment just because you're too cheap to pay for actual technical service? It's not just infuriating, it's also bad economics. #DisgruntledPostdoc
