Multi-academy trusts have higher secondary-level teacher turnover than local authority schools theguardian.com/education/2024…
On the same day that @GillianKeegan has stated "I have always been clear that headteachers are best placed to make decisions in their school". Yes it was in relation to the Michaela legal outcome, however, was this an unintended admission that #MATS are not the answer, especially noting GK prior scepticism about the MAT movement?
@GuardianEdu I'm shocked, I tell you! SHOCKED!
@GuardianEdu I wonder if Labour is listening? MATS ought to be abolished.
@GuardianEdu Why not do a ‘deep dive’ and investigate? Teachers are ready to talk…
@GuardianEdu Hmmm…now why doesn’t that surprise me ? Could be the information I hear from friends working in particular areas 🤦♀️
@GuardianEdu How it went down. Let’s get rid of LEA control and let schools make local decisions. How about one or two locals schools join together to share resources. Let’s make a MAT and set cross school standards and branding. Oh so now we have a privatised LEA with no local autonomy
@GuardianEdu Well yes, cause staff can see all the money being ploughed into “advisors” and “CEOs” on 6 figure salaries who’ve got nothing to do except invent new and ridiculous policies. Give me an LA school any day!
@GuardianEdu So giving teachers worse terms and conditions is a bad idea because they move jobs? Who knew?
@GuardianEdu What a surprise! Maybe because they waste all the money on senior leadership teams who then invent new initiatives every three seconds to justify their existence and micromanage teachers into leaving.
