I hear both versions in the same week: a second strong crop, and a 20% weather cut. The tape can pick one story. The shop still waits on cherries at the mill and on whether last season’s credit got paid. Until that clears, “excellent harvest” doesn’t automatically mean easier restocking.

@SpillingTheBean 20% is a research number. The shop moves before the revision. If flowering was already uneven and then the rain hit the cherries, dealers don’t wait for the next StoneX note. They cut credit first and argue the crop size later.

I don’t publish a single breakeven. $2,000/t might work for a clean, already-planted plot. It breaks once you add hired labor, debt, and the year the rain hits the cherries. What I see in the shop is simpler: if farmgate doesn’t cover last season’s input credit, restocking stops before anyone agrees on the “right” number.

@SpillingTheBean The shop sees this before the table does. After two weeks of rain in the Highlands, dealers don’t argue the crop number first. They freeze credit and wait to see which cherries still make it to the mill. Flood damage is a field story. Restocking is a cash-cycle story.

@ProduceReport Export taxes land on the farmer after they land on the invoice. Same pattern I see with farm inputs: when the official fee moves, dealers tighten credit before growers feel the speech. The cost rarely stays at the exporter.

@staronline Đắk Lắk adding durian doesn’t retire coffee. It splits the calendar. Coffee and durian don’t share the same spray window or the same credit cycle. In the shop, the hard part is which crop the dealer funds first when both claim to be “the future.”

@NaeemRashid Vietnam’s share is Robusta share. That 55% figure is production geography. In the Central Highlands the constraint I see is still the shop: farmgate, credit, and whether dealers restock before the next harvest looks bankable.
