Web 3.0🕸️- heard it, use it but actually have no idea what people are talking about? 🤓 Here's a mini series on the history of the Web so you can better understand Web 3.0 and where crypto fits in 🔥 Let's start at the beginning, a very good place to start 😉 Web 1.0 The official birthdate of the internet is considered to be January 1, 1983 and is commonly referred to as "the Web" Prior to the invention of the internet, different networks did not have a standard way with which to communicate with each other - how boring! Web 1.0 was invented and evolved between 1989 and 2005 and was a read only Web - we didn't see socials, collabs and interaction until around 1999 with the coming of Web 2.0 (more on that in Part II) Tim Berners Lee created the first version in 1989 when he devised a system using hyperlinks to allow one page in a directory to refer to other pages in the same system, way to go Timmy your mom must be so proud! 🦾 This invention sparked off a wave of activity and info sharing, allowing Web 1.0 to develop over a few years Static HTML, table and frame content displays, static websites and file system data storage are all characteristics of Web 1.0 which, of course have since evolved over the next generations of Webs Web 1.0 of course provided a foundation on which to build the internet that we very much love today but another positive of this Web version was the inability to upload malicious content due to it being read only Evolving often comes with some sacrifices just they are usually outweighed by the benefits! Anyway, tune in with us next for Web 2.0 with the rise of social media, mobile devices and some speed 😉
