I'm sorry, I can't let this go. Every time I look at this interview with Ruth Hunt, I get angrier. It didn't take _me_ long to work out what was going on in the gender clinics, that gender non-conforming kids 1/5 thetimes.co.uk/article/fe117e…
who picked up the idea, online and in school, that they were 'trans' were being affirmed in that nonsense idea by gender clinics. I had a full-time job while I was working this out, doing something completely different - namely editing the finance section of The Economist! 2/5
Ruth Hunt was only the CEO of the country's main LGBT campaigning organisation. If I could work this out in a few hours of my non-existent spare time, she really has no excuse for not seeing it. And yet what does she say in this article? 3/5
“I had this kind of fantasy that little baby lesbians could go [to a clinic] and say, ‘I want to wear a suit so I want to be a boy’ [and be told], ‘no, you’re a lesbian who wears a suit’.” Fantasy indeed!! FFS they were doing the exact OPPOSITE! 4/5
@HJoyceGender I’m curious, were the LGB community ever consulted regarding the affixing of the T? It’s inferred they all align, I’m not so sure?
@HJoyceGender Ruth Hunt’s interest begins and ends with her influence. She towed the line that gave her the most prominent kudos, not the most wide-spread, and certInly not the line that was most accurate. Because it wasn’t about her job, or the safety of others, it was her power base.
@HJoyceGender Her job, income and lifestyle depended on her not seeing it.
