@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane If we are lucky, we get repurposed (read, recycled) concrete prefabs, or cheap plastic knock-down sticks. /3
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane The road that is taken from cars is not torn up and repaved to be brand new. It is filled with cracks, sewer grates, and prone to having sharp debris. But we'll take it, because it's better than nothing /4
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane I'm not saying cyclists should be prioritized at all. But (like how this post began) if we build bike lanes that are accessible to all ages and abilities (yes, WC users too! 100% post signs if we have to) then we can make a better city to travel in.
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane Never said to put bike lanes on every road. We need connectivity though. And as you said, we all just want to get to our destinations.
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane What I think I'm hearing is that you don't want to use bike lanes, b/c a protected bike lane will force cyclists to pass too close and hit you? I understand that. Sidewalks with bumps every meter it is then. The other solution is tearing up every sidewalks & pouring asphalt.
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane Fix sidewalks benefits WC users, rollerbladers, skaters, parents with strollers & wagons, joggers Cost: $$$$$ Installing all ages age abilities cycling/rolling infrastructure benefits- WC users, rollerbladers, skaters, parents with strollers & wagons... and cyclists Cost: $$$
@Mr_J_Abbey @emptybikelane I honestly don't want to argue, or discredit your experiences, but if we make all ages and abilities infrastructure, and educate users of said infrastructure, then all will benefit. Hence, this post's humble beginnings.
