One team, one shared commitment to strengthen disaster preparedness in #Djibouti With the signing of a joint consortium agreement, @UNICEFdjibouti, @DjiboutiIOM, @WFP_Djibouti_CD, @crocerossa and @CRDjibouti are joining forces with national and local authorities to strengthen early warning, anticipatory action and protection for children and families. Together, with the support of the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, we are preparing today to better protect tomorrow. Over 24 months, with the support of @eu_echo 🇪🇺, more than 41,000 people will be reached with stronger early warning, preparedness and protection. #PREACTDJ #ONEUN

أعرب عن عميق امتناني للمملكة العربية السعودية🇸🇦 على ترشيحي لمنصب المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، ولخادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، ولصاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء، حفظهما الله، على دعمهما المستمر للصحة في المملكة وإسهامها في تعزيز الصحة العالمية. أمضيت مسيرتي المهنية طبيبة أطفال، واختصاصية في الأمراض المعدية، وعالمة، بدءًا من رعاية بعض الأطفال الأكثر احتياجًا للرعاية، وصولًا إلى العمل في الخطوط الأمامية لمواجهة متلازمة الشرق الأوسط التنفسية (MERS-CoV)، وذلك قبل وقت طويل من ظهور كوفيد-19. وقد رسخت هذه التجربة إيماني بقوة العلم، وأهمية الاستعداد، وقيمة التعاون في تحويل الأدلة والمعرفة إلى إجراءات ملموسة. وشغلت لاحقًا منصب أول مساعدة للمدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لشؤون مقاومة مضادات الميكروبات، ومنذ عام 2024، أشغل منصب المديرة الإقليمية لمنظمة الصحة العالمية لشرق المتوسط، حيث أعمل مع 22 دولة عضو وأكثر من 750 مليون نسمة. وأعرب عن امتناني لزملائي والعاملين في مجال الصحة في المملكة العربية السعودية الذين كان لهم دور في تشكيل هذه المسيرة، وللكوادر الشجاعة والمثابرة في منظمة الصحة العالمية، الذين أتشرف بالعمل معهم. إنني أؤمن بأن على منظمة الصحة العالمية أن تعزز الثقة، وتحقق الأثر، وتثبت القيمة التي تقدمها لكل دولة عضو. وأتطلع إلى الاستماع والتعلم والعمل مع الزملاء والدول الأعضاء والشركاء حول العالم، ونحن نرسم معًا مستقبل منظمة الصحة العالمية والصحة العالمية. #TrustImpactValue #WHODG2027

Leaving #WHA79 with renewed conviction that multilateralism and collective action are the best medicine against conflict, fragmentation and financial strain. This World Health Assembly reinforced global commitment to protect civilians and safeguard health systems; renewed momentum towards ending polio, a goal now closer than ever; strengthened focus on emergency preparedness, response and resilience; and advanced reform of the global health architecture through the UN80 Initiative. Through impactful engagements with Member States, partners, academia, civil society and global health leaders, we advanced shared priorities for the Eastern Mediterranean Region and beyond, from sustainable financing and workforce development to equitable access to medicines, vaccines and stronger health systems. The work ahead remains immense, but so does our shared responsibility to build a healthier, safer and more equitable future for all. #HealthForAll | #Partners4Health

At #WHA79, Judith Diment MBE, speaking for @Rotary, made an important point that should not be missed. The GPEI is one of the clearest examples we have that private-public partnership for a clear purpose works. Through GPEI, countries, communities, civil society, technical agencies and donors have come together through a shared platform, with operational discipline, collective accountability and a measurable goal. As conversations on global health architecture reform continue, we should listen carefully to @Rotary’s message. We should not allow fragmentation to weaken what has taken decades to build. The polio eradication programme has strengthened global public health infrastructure by extending disease surveillance and early response systems into some of the most difficult, access-constrained parts of the world. It has expanded laboratory networks, rapid response capacity, trained frontline workers, trusted community channels and institutionalized a no-excuses operational culture of reaching children and communities in the hardest places. These assets are now so embedded in global health security and national system resilience that their value is often only noticed when they are at risk. Thank you to @Rotary and to Judith personally, for reminding Member States that finishing polio eradication and protecting the functions built through GPEI are not competing priorities. @Rotary’s continued commitment matters because its voice keeps the world focused on a polio-free world that is achieved in a way that also strengthens systems for those most left behind. @EndPolioNow @RotaryEndPolio @WHO_Polio @UNICEFpolio @CDCemergency @KSRelief_EN @mbz_foundation
