When I was in UiTM Melaka, there was a kid in our block who sent all his PTPTN money home to his family because they were poor AF. So rich kids in the block gave him their food cards so he could use their credits to eat. There are a couple of issues with this story:
Yes, there are rich kids in UiTM and they got food credits, too. Poor students couldn't survive on their own food credits because a single square meal on campus where they're valid costs more than a whole day's credits. A meal on campus actually costs more than a meal outside.
Btw, not a single person I know made fun of or looked down on the guy. We were straight up in awe of this quiet young man who traveled far to study, living a hard life so his family at home could eat. I hope he's doing well.
Gonna take this opportunity to promote my work and justify all the time I spend on Twitter. Please follow @therakyatpost, @trpbm, and @BuzzKini for news, lifestyle, and other interesting stuff. Thank you!
@HamzahNazari Biggest issue is why the poor non-bumi are not given food credit at all and no free tertiary education. Not sure until when are we going to turn a blind eye on this? :(
