Why does Allah swear by time in Surah Al-‘Asr? Not wealth.Not health.Not success. Time. And Allah tells us: “Indeed, mankind is in loss.” Why? Because time is the one thing you spend without feeling the cost. You can lose money and earn it again. You can lose possessions and replace them. But every second that passes is gone. You never get it back. Then Allah gives us the exception: “Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, encourage one another to truth, and encourage one another to patience.” Four things. Faith. Good deeds. Truth. Patience. Notice something. Allah doesn't say: “Except those who have the most knowledge.” Or the most wealth. Or the most followers. The people saved from loss are those who use their limited time for what actually lasts. And that's why the Surah doesn't simply warn you about wasting time. It tells you what to do with it. Believe. Do good. Stand for the truth. Stay patient. Because time is passing whether you're using it well or not. Every day, you're given the same 24 hours. But you're not given the same day twice. So when Allah swears by Al-‘Asr, perhaps the question isn't: “How much time do I have?” It's: “What am I doing with the time I have left?”

Western reality: A sexual assault happens every 20 seconds and the overwhelming majority ends with NO conviction. Islamic law: A husband is financially responsible for his wife and family completely. Western culture: required to split the bills 50/50 in the name of “equality”. Islamic law: women can work but DON’T HAVE to, and keep what they earn for themselves. Western Norms: majority of women HAVE to work because at least 2 incomes are required to sustain an average household due to interest rates. Islamic law: A woman’s money is HERS. Wages, Inheritance. Dowry. Gifts. EVERYTHING. Western norms: in the event of a divorce… the man in entitled to 50% of all her wealth. Islamic Law: Men must cover wedding expenses. Western tradition: Even at her OWN wedding, the bride’s family is traditionally expected to foot the bill. I BELIEVE ISLAM IS THE MOST PRO-WOMAN SYSTEM EVER REVEALED AND MODERN FEMINISM DOESN’T COME CLOSE. I’m not talking about countries or culture. I’m talking about true, stand alone, Islamic law. Show me another system that gives women a better overall package of rights, protections and financial entitlements. I’m not a scholar and this isn’t a theological argument. Narrated by Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "There is a compulsory Ṣadaqah (charity) to be given for every joint of the human body (as a sign of gratitude to Allāh) everyday the sun rises. To judge justly between two persons is regarded as Ṣadaqah, and to help a man concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride it or by lifting his luggage on to it, is also regarded as Ṣadaqah, and (saying) a good word is also Ṣadaqah, and every step taken on one's way to offer the compulsory prayer (in the mosque) is also Ṣadaqah and to remove a harmful thing from the way is also Ṣadaqah."
