BREAKING: Trump says “I may have to finish the job with Iran, or we make a deal.”
— Spectator Index
The situation remains tense. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz is still disrupted and oil prices remain supported by the risk premium. No clear de-escalation yet.
Current market chain:
Higher oil prices → Higher inflation risks → Stronger USD (DXY support) + Rising yields → Pressure on Gold.
US 2-year and 10-year yields both dumped 10 basis points today.
That’s a serious move.
What it means right now:
DXY
The dollar just lost one of its strongest supports. Soft yields = softer greenback. If this continues, DXY will struggle to hold any meaningful upside.
USOil
Mildly positive. Lower yields reduce the cost of holding commodities and usually support risk assets. Geopolitics is still the main driver, but the yield drop removes a headwind.
Gold
This is the biggest near-term positive for gold. Soft yields and a softer dollar are exactly what the metal needs. Even with oil elevated, the rate move is giving gold room to stabilise and potentially recover.
Bottom line:
Yields falling this hard is dollar-negative and gold-supportive. Oil stays in its own geopolitical lane but gets a quiet tailwind.
Watch these three closely into the close and into tomorrow’s COT data.
For the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing content mostly around trading psychology.
Now I’m going to make some changes.
From now on, I’ll be sharing more about technical analysis, like:
➤ How I take trades (buy or sell)
➤ Which strategies I use most
➤ How I decide where to put my SL
➤ Which patterns give the best risk-reward
Trading psychology carries a lot of weight, but without an edge, it amounts to nothing.
So stay tuned for what comes next: the technical side of my trading.📈
Only took one setup last week and made $4.7K
Does trading once a week make me unprofitable?
With enough account size and a good setup, you don’t need to trade every day.
Updated DXY Fundamental Analysis after the CPI release yesterday
The US Dollar Index remains in a constructive position after the hotter-than-expected September CPI.
What Drove the Move
The CPI report showed:
- Headline inflation at 3.7% y/y (above the 3.6% forecast)
- Core inflation at 2.6% y/y (above the 2.5% forecast)
This was enough to push October Fed hike odds higher (from the low-20s toward the 40% area) and reinforce the higher-for-longer narrative. The dollar responded immediately, climbing toward 18-month highs near 102.90.
Current Drivers Supporting DXY
1. Elevated US yields – Even after some post-spike consolidation, the 10-year remains around the mid-5.20s and the 30-year is still elevated. This continues to attract capital into dollar assets.
2. Repriced Fed path – Markets are no longer treating another 2026 hike as a low-probability event. The hotter core print reduced the chance of a quick pivot.
3. Relative growth and rate differentials – The US still offers higher yields than most major peers, supporting the dollar on a relative basis.
4. Risk tone – Periods of risk-off or inflation concern continue to favour the dollar as a funding and safe-haven currency.
Counter Forces
- Some yield giveback after the initial spike has limited further upside in the very short term.
- Positioning can become crowded after sharp dollar rallies, which sometimes invites temporary pullbacks.
- Any softer follow-through data (PPI, retail sales) could temper the immediate strength.
Overall Stance
Mildly Bullish
The structural backdrop (higher yields + firmer Fed pricing) continues to favour the dollar. The hot CPI has strengthened rather than weakened this bias. While short-term consolidation is possible after the sharp post-data move, the broader environment remains supportive for DXY as long as yields stay elevated and the Fed retains a tightening bias.
