In just 3 generations, Tiger Shark populations have declined by 71% off of the eastern coast of Australia.

In the last 75 years, Whale Shark populations have decreased 63% due to overfishing, habitat loss, and climate change.

Sharks have survived 5 mass extinctions. This includes “The Great Dying”, where 90% of marine species became extinct. But due to humans, 75% of shark species are currently threatened with extinction.
Over 17,000 tons of shark fins and 23,000,000 dead sharks pass through Hong Kong every year. The soup has no nutritional benefits or flavor and is only eaten as a status symbol. The fins are literally thrown on the dirty streets and rooftops to dry before being sold and eaten.

If the mutilating of sharks isn’t enough to get people to stop eating shark fin soup, there are neurotoxins such as mercury and β-N-methylamino-L-alanine found in the fins. Stop the hunt and consumption of shark.
