Today is sad, not only for the people who were laid off but for the EV space. Elon, Tesla and those who have contributed to Tesla Supercharging have moved mountains and gotten the EV space to where it is today. Rivian, Lucid and many others wouldn't be where they are today…

There’s a Rivian R1 refresh variant higher than the tri motor. My guess is it’s the tri motor performance model we’ve been predicting for a while. It has Ascent in the name…
This is actually good news. Let’s be real. If the @TeslaCharging reliability declined, we would have a lot of first time EV (Tesla) buyers going back to ICE like they do with CCS cars after a bad charging experience.

Just got a tip that this may be wrong - quad motor is still dead and tri motor is the tip top motor option in the R1 refresh. I don't know what to believe!
This seems like a tremendous gift for public charging networks. They need to pickup where Tesla left off on DCFC build outs. Rivian continues to expand the RAN but nowhere near the rate or density of Tesla. I don't want to even mention EVGouge or EA.

Rivian has an article published on the maintenance schedule for R1 vehicles. I think we're about to lose the drive unit fluid change item with in-house tri motor and quad motor variants. Less maintenance is a good thing!

Tesla still has the best DCFC network in America. Nobody is even close in ease of use, reliability, and availability. Let's hope they can maintain that status even with today's news.
