@crilly_jim @Libertarian1777 @Itsfoss I tried to setup my VPN at the router level however with multiple users in the house and some web sites still not being VPN friendly it was easier to configure at the host level. I was able to configure DNSSES/DoH at the router level using AdGuard.

@crilly_jim @Itsfoss The whole thing just sounds awful. Age verification for certain websites/services 100% yes. For just installing an OS or getting on the Internet no! My ISP already knows too much about me. Good enough.

@TheGamerOfRafi @Itsfoss Yeah no good. If it was a simple enter DOB I would just not enter my real one, click yes and move on. So would this mean I need to register all of my IOT devices as well? They all run some form of Linux.

@cyber_razz While the humor is aimed at the "vibe coders" I don't think it should be ignored some of the amazing feats these models are capable of when it comes to coding like Claude recently finding 22 undiscovered vulnerabilities in the Fire Fox source code.

Nearly 10,000 DNS requests in 10 hours for a Smart TV that's been sitting there streaming a rain storm seems excessive.

@sysxplore For those that may be stuck on Windows, you can always setup a Linux VM but in the Microsoft store there's also a Ubuntu app that will give you a lightweight CLI only terminal for Tinkering. Similar I also use Termux on my Android phone for learning.

@kmcnam1 Happy I'm at a point where outside of a Raspberry Pi (or 3!) I shouldn't need to purchase new hardware for years.

@Pirat_Nation Hence why data centers are staring to use more renewable energy sources on top of the models operating more efficiently. Trust me nobody wants to pay that electric bill so they are trying to figure it out.

Guess I always come off as a defender of Microsoft but this report was debunked last week. Microsoft is spending the rest of 2026 improving Windows 11.

@kmcnam1 This was debunked last week. Microsoft has no official announcements for Windows 12 or an AI based OS at this time and plans to focus the rest of 2026 on "improving" Windows 11.

@CyberRacheal Honest question, for the average user how much of a privacy concern is this? Our phones already track everywhere we go.

@cyber_razz While that report gained a lot of traction apparently it's false. Microsoft's current plan for 2026 is to further improve Windows 11 which includes reducing AI bloat at the request of users.

Windows 11 Enterprise proves Microsoft can actually create a bloat free OS but at a premium cost.
