The best thing I ever did for my self esteem was letting go of the idea that the right productivity system would make it so I didn’t have ADHD anymore Now I can just enjoy the chaos and be proud of myself when I manage any level of organization at all 😎
Now I get to enjoy things like “yay I managed to stack all the cardboard in one place so I can start breaking it down & taking it out” instead of beating myself up like “why did I let it get to this poiiiiint also why is there a Christmas tree IT IS JULY what is wrong with me”

@HowtoADHD It helps if u have people who also love the good side of your adhd and are understanding of the challenges and don’t take it personal. I asked my friend today if she thinks I should go on adhd meds and this was her response, it made me feel so so loved.

@HowtoADHD I needed to hear that today! My super-neatnick neighbors surprised me at my messiest, coming to my broken back gate to offer me zucchini - I was so rattled I could barely chat; don't know what I said. Felt shamed of the chaos. Need to remember they don't know about my ADHD.
@HowtoADHD Took me ages to give up on finding a system. I also gained a lot of executive functioning when I became less anxious.
