In last week's IC Optics Newsletter, I dove into the psychological aspect of scouting. A big emphasis for me has been process-oriented thinking vs. results-oriented thinking. When I first started a long time ago, I was results-oriented and very prone to bias. I had to learn.

Happy Valley, whiteout, under the lights. Dante Moore never blinked. Was efficient, measured, and on-schedule in-structure. Was composed and collected whenever forced off-script. Had an answer for everything. This feels like a big stepping stone on a QB1 campaign.

Catches like this one by Chris Brazzell don’t come around often. Insane concentration play. He’s in his element this year. Size, athleticism, and flexibility — weaponized by hard-coded body control at the catch.

This 2026 safety class just has so many big-time players: - Caleb Downs - Genesis Smith - Kamari Ramsey - AJ Haulcy - Amare Ferrell - Earl Little Jr. - Dillon Thieneman - etc etc Could go on. It's a deep and very talented group, with players whose impacts are *tangible*.

I am not prepared to share how high I am on Arvell Reese. He’s a stack-and-shed god. He’s a wicked blitz threat with speed and power, and he can hunt down the most dynamic QBs as a spy. NFL DCs will be chomping at the bit to get this dude.

Amare Ferrell is a playmaker. If the ball’s in his range — whether thrown or tipped — he’s got the instincts, reach, and closing speed to capitalize. 6’2”, over 200. Has an NFL future.

Also props to Jayden Maiava for not being afraid to keep slinging it after his bad interception. Had some darts in clutch moments and placed this one well. He's a QB I need to give more credence. Has the talent and the composure to work through highs and lows.

Cool angle of Makai Lemon’s slot fade TD below. Both guys have their eyes on the ball. It’s all about body control and catch-point positioning. Lemon plays it perfect and makes an incredible play. 11-151-2 today. He’s the reason they’re in it.

I always try to cross my T’s and dot my I’s with tape-watching when I do mock drafts. One prospect I was blown away by this week in the process: Arizona safety Genesis Smith. Unreal range and recalibration at 6’2”, 204. Might end up being one of my Top 3 safeties in the class.
