It pains me to point this out: The US once pressured Ukraine to give up its nukes, rockets and bombers in exchange for "assurances" to protect its territorial integrity... Today: now that you have given up your means to defend yourself, you need to respect the integrity of Russia's state owned oil and gas industry. 35 years of a priori good will and trust, as well as blood and treasure in several US wars on the part of "New Europe" going down the drain.
@IlvesToomas The Budapest Memorandum did not say anything about guarantees of Ukraine's territorial integrity. The signatories only promised not to attack Ukraine. The US kept its word, Russia did not.
@IlvesToomas The US has peaked unfortunately and is now going the way of the roman empire.
@IlvesToomas @Biz_Ukraine_Mag Yup. Never trust America, other than its homage to money
@IlvesToomas @allthruthetown I completely agree, and, in my opinion, it is long past due to point this out. We pressured Ukraine to comply, giving our "assurances" to protect them, so we need to do our part. That there is any hesitation at all on our side to stand up for what we championed is shameful.
@IlvesToomas To me the most disappointing aspect here: It is not a Trump government, it is Biden. I would never have imagined them throwing Ukraine under the bus. And this leads to doubts about what to expect from the US in an article 5 situation, too.
It pains me to point this out: God once allegedly said "thou shalt love thy neighbor". Today: not everyone loves their neighbor. Oof.
