Shutting down traffic and disrupting life in one of the most progressive and Gaza-sympathetic cities in the US accomplishes what, exactly, for this movement? What’s the strategy and what’s the goal here?

Protest disrupts the rhythm of everyday life, compelling society to confront its deepest injustices. By interrupting the ordinary, it forces people to reckon with the urgency of the issues—be it the negligence of our leaders or atrocities unfolding globally— like the brutal Gaza Genocide which demands attention and action.
@cherylbenson @sahilkapur That was very thoughtful and academic. The way these protests are being carried out, they are harming any broad public support for the movement. If anything, turning the moderate center against their position.
@Im_NickJames @sahilkapur You must be quite young protests helped end the Vietnam and Iraq wars , including by blocking arms. Let’s not forget everybody’s paid a holidays from labour protest.
@cherylbenson @sahilkapur I’m not young. The #BLM protests galvanized public support after the police murders of #GeorgeFloyd and #BreonnaTaylor by being peaceful (replaced by anarchists at night who rioted, not the same people). They shut down roads. Difference: supporting Hamas and Houthis.
