Today I was reflecting on my years working in schools prior to my degree. Whilst I never experienced a child with selective mutism, I can identify several occasions where speech and language training would have shown why the child was acting in a certain way and how to help them.

Since starting my degree in Speech and Language Therapy, many people have asked me what being an SLT involves. Whilst I have tried to explain it, there are just too many areas to list that SLTs work in. If you are interested, this poem does a really good job :)
