@ReemAmirIbrahim Everybody is so envious of the NHS that nobody has attempted to copy it.
@btcjvs Can retail panic sell if they haven’t even panic bought in FOMO yet?
Good evening. Once again for those in the back. The goal is to identify an investment that has a tremendous risk/reward profile, then size that investment in your portfolio accordingly, and exercise strict discipline around your true conviction. Simple. Have a great night.
In the last 5 years alone, £10k is now just £6,900 with inflation Make no mistake, inflation is a tax. But in the same 5 years: Gold has gone from £10k to £17,200 And Bitcoin has gone from £10k to £156,800 Can you see what’s really happening?
.@Ed_Miliband and @StarkClimate - shame there wasn't a demand response buyer (like a Bitcoin mining industry) around to pay for that wasted power.
Yesterday, Sat-21-12-24 Wasted wind cost Britain: £18,680,371 £7,313,603 switching off wind turbines £11,366,768 buying energy elsewhere That's 118,607 MWh of green electrons: enough to power 3 Londons for a day. Powered by wastedwind.energy BUT............

The UK spent £20 million in a single day because it produced too much wind power. Bitcoin miners would have paid for that power, if the UK were not so blinkered in its approach and determined to remain in the nineteenth century. I encourage @Ed_Miliband and @StarkClimate to read the DLA Piper article below, or the work from @bitcoinpolicyuk on mining as a demand response buyer of power.
British utility Octopus CEO says the U.K. spent yesterday ~£20 million paying wind generators not to produce (curtailment was needed due to high wind during a winter storm)
@allenf32 The NHS is SO good and works SO well…that no country ever bothered to replicate it!
You are welcome to your opinion Equally, when you say "Bitcoin is useless", you are saying that each and every one of the recorded usecases of Bitcoin is useless In other words, you are saying: 1. Helping bring energy abundance to these 1800 African villagers have no value unherd.com/2024/01/the-af… 2. Getting aid to 1000s of war refugees is useless wired.co.uk/article/ukrain… 3 Developing energy independence for Bhutan is useless impact.economist.com/projects/banki… 4. Developing an monetary financial system with significantly lower emissions and emissions intensity than the banking system is useless nasdaq.com/articles/a-com…… x.com/DSBatten/statu… Arguing that even one of these things is useless, or that Bitcoin does not deliver this promised value would I think be difficult. Though, have a go if you wish. But arguing that all 17 have are useless (which you'd need to do in order to contend that Bitcoin is useless)? That would require mental gymnastics beyond the level to justify flat-earth theory. It's rare I see a technology with one benefits akin to the ones above. But to have 17 usecases of such world-changing dimension - that is a once in a generation technology.
B𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: #Bitcoin mining has the lowest emission intensity of any sector of the economy Emission intensity (per KWh) - Iron & Steel: 856g - Gold: 679g - Agriculture: 646g - Industrial: 502g - Banking: 464g - Bitcoin: 296g batcoinz.com/comparing-bitc…
I voted for her. I think he’s a bad guy. But if you lose the senate, house, electoral college AND popular vote, and you think the lesson is half the country is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and stupid… wrong lesson. And the same thing will likely happen in 2028.
Attached are two useful charts from the OBR to better understand what the shift to the "public sector net financial liabilities" (PSNFL) measure really means. It basically turns the UK government into more of a financialised entity, bringing on balance sheet financial investments and liabilities. When tied to Reeves' National Wealth Fund ambitions (which will feature a kind of venture capital component known as a catalytic fund) you potentially create a lot of state-directed capitalism (mis)incentives. Can bureaucrats led by Investment Minister Poppy Gustafsson (chartered accountant, a former corporate controller at Autonomy — aka the country's biggest tech-related accounting fraud) be trusted to make commercially sound decisions here? Are the incentives properly aligned with the public interest? Also consider that the easiest way to create more headroom under this framework is basically kinda doing all the stuff the banks were doing pre-2008, like taking risky bets and using over-optimistic valuations to bring forward future incomes to offset against current liabilities, albeit this time potentially backed by an unchecked BoE money printer. [This is because the losses that were otherwise draining public finances are now accounted as a type of deferred asset, removing that constraint.] It gets even more convoluted if a lot of the very same start-ups also draw their primary value from being government suppliers or contractors in the first place. So maybe, all things considered, it's more like SBF, especially if you note this comes at the same time the government wants to encourage all the start-ups under its wing to list on its primary exchange, the LSE, all the better to create national champions with. At the same time, the government will be making it less onerous to list in the first place by easing disclosure obligations, especially for related-party transactions and acquisitions, while removing the need for a sponsor. And while SBF had customer accounts to redirect into risky loans, the govt's equivalent is influence over public funded pension/insurance funds and their investment mandates, all in the spirit of generating a "crowding in" effect (which, let's face it, has many of the hallmarks of a state-sponsored pump and dump operation if you consider the end objective is to cash out and bro down on the LSE, in a way that naturally creates $$ for govt coffers, but even more importantly "early adopters"). All of which is to say is: if it looks an awful lot like fancy financial engineering that can lead to a whopper round of state-directed financial exuberance (with ample opportunity for cronyism!), well ... maybe it is?
Holding Bitcoin is like holding Royal Flush in poker. You know you’ve won, and are just waiting.

There is no red vs blue, there is only a uniparty now!
🚨 In November 2023, Rachel Reeves called the Tories’ tax threshold freeze a sign of ‘failure’ “People on average earnings are paying more in tax because they are dragged into higher tax brackets. That is a sign of failure. The govt is picking the pockets of working people.”
This is a good guide to the #debtspiral I moaned about earlier. If you’re surprised that it’s not talked about more often in the news, don’t be!
9/ We will get neither if taxes rise, putting more money in the hands of people who aren't very good at allocating it.
1/ People in the UK celebrating a 'fall in #Inflation ', I need to politely remind you that inflation is a measure of the rate of PRICE INCREASES.
