Maybe pedantic but Vivek talking about how "the US Constitution was what won us the American Revolution" is wildly wrong The Constitution, of course, was written in 1787 -- more than a decade after the Revolution started, in 1775. Totally different historical events
Beyond this just not being how time works, there's a more fundamental confusion here: The Constitution was about retrenching the social unrest & democratization (for white men) embodied by the Revolution. You dont have to be Charles Beard to understand this.
@JStein_WaPo Yeah, I kind of perked up when he said that as well, but my take on it was he was saying that the principles embedded in it, although not yet written, where what drove the fighters of the revolution.
@CommunityNotes - can we please put an end to these inaccuracies that are being posted like this one? In the FULL clip, he states that it is having COMMON IDEALS that helped us win the American Revolution. And he lists modern common ideals — including our belief that “the U.S. Constitution is the strongest guarantor of freedom in human history” — “that…will win us the revolution of 2024.” youtube.com/watch?v=5plJh3…
@JStein_WaPo That is not what he said. He said our common set of ideals won us the American Revolution. Here is the entire clip — if anyone is actually interested in the truth anymore —

@JStein_WaPo If Trump isn't the nominee this guy will be.
@JStein_WaPo @barbaraslavin1 He also said that the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990. It was 1991. And he the guy that wants to give a test to all Americans
@JStein_WaPo There is a distinction between American Revolution and the Revolutionary War.
@JStein_WaPo Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
