my coworker once got called aggressive for correcting a mistake during a meeting. she wasn't shouting, insulting anyone or being disrespectful. she simply spoke with confidence and didn't soften every sentence with an apology. later that same day, a male coworker interrupted three people and spoke over everyone, and people called him confident. women really are expected to make themselves smaller just to be considered pleasant.
men will say they want a woman who is confident, independent and knows her worth, but the moment she actually has boundaries they start calling her difficult. she doesn't reply instantly, she has her own plans, she says no without feeling guilty, and suddenly she's “emotionally unavailable.” apparently independence is attractive only when it doesn't affect you.
personally i think adding “john” before a completely random object is one of the funniest things humans have ever invented. john microwave. john refrigerator. john tax return. absolute cinema
women will say “maybe i’m just being dramatic” and then accurately predict the entire situation three days before it happens. like girl you were right, but the confidence was somehow still missing.
i love when my phone knows what i’m about to type before i do. unfortunately it has also witnessed enough of my life to become a potential blackmail witness
I once knew two people who talked every single night and shared everything with each other, but slowly the replies became shorter, the conversations became less frequent, and one day they realized they had somehow become strangers without ever having a falling-out.
My friend stopped texting first just to see if the other person would notice, and after three weeks of complete silence, they finally realized they had been the only one keeping the friendship alive.
A child can be deeply loved, well-fed, educated and still carry emotional patterns from the way their parents raised them.
Some childhood lessons don’t disappear when you grow up. They follow you into friendships, marriage and relationships.
Tom Holland sharing a quote that said “if you have a problem with me, text me, and if you don’t have my number, you don’t know me well enough to have a problem with me” really stuck with me
