A Red Flag Warning is in effect: 🔹Sierra Nevada range and foothills: 12 a.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday. 🔹Portions of Lake County: 4 a.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Thursday. 🔹Los Angeles, Kern, and Ventura counties: early Thursday morning through 10 p.m. Friday. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Friday morning through Friday afternoon for the mountains of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. In portions of Lake County, a Fire Weather Watch will take effect late Thursday night, after the Red Flag Warning expires, and remain in effect through Friday afternoon. Why does this matter? Dry vegetation can ignite easily, and strong winds can quickly spread flames into new areas, making wildfires harder to control and threatening nearby communities. 🚨Nine major US banks denied services to customers based on their political or religious beliefs, per CBS News. JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citigroup were among the banks named. US banking regulator, OCC reviewed over 100,000 financial complaints between 2020 and 2025 after an executive order was passed by President Trump. Investigators found that WePay, a payment processor owned by JPMorgan, used political keywords like "MAGA," "America First" and "Make America Great" to flag merchants. Banks also restricted services to businesses involved in crypto, oil exploration and coal mining. The main reason was to protect their reputation by avoiding customers associated with controversial businesses or beliefs. JPMorgan denied discriminating based on individual's personal beliefs but admitted WePay's processes fell short. It said those issues were corrected, and WePay no longer operates. No fines or penalties have been imposed yet, but regulators are considering stricter rules on when banks can deny services.
