On this day in 1983, #ViolentFemmes released their self-titled debut studio album featuring "Blister in the Sun" "Kiss Off" "Please Do Not Go" "Add It Up" "Prove My Love" and "Gone Daddy Gone"
@JakeRudh I don't find this aged as well as some of the other music from this era that I still like. It's a fun sing-along while partying with friends album.
@JakeRudh Good Feeling is a deep cut Femmes track but a great one nonetheless
@JakeRudh Every song is great, there are not a lot of albums where I can say that
@JakeRudh Turns out they weren’t violent at all 🤷♂️
@JakeRudh I’d put this one in the top ten 80’s alternative/new wave albums you need to own.
@JakeRudh And almost no one knows what’s playing when almost every Major League Baseball park plays a few bars of “Blister In the Sun” multiple times a night.
@JakeRudh Every song on this album is brilliant, but although they had a few good songs subsequently, nothing else came close to this
@JakeRudh @tomflood1 Dating myself: I first saw #ViolentFemmes play at a free, noontime concert at Cal Poly Pomona, probably in spring of 1983. Also, Bad Brains and Husker Du; Sonic Youth in a cafe at UCLA, Red Hot Chili Peppers in a small multipurpose room at UC Irvine
