Tonight's dinner, made by my wife! 😊 One of my favorites: stamina-don, a hearty pork rice bowl, with some delicious soup on the side. So good, as always! 😋 Thank you for all the wonderful meals! ❤️
Today's nigiri sushi is neatly bite-sized. 🍣 But back in the Edo period, some pieces were about the size of a rice ball! They look a little tricky to eat... and honestly, not that appetizing. Still, I bet they were quite a treat back then! 😊

Who was the first person to look at this and think, "Let's eat it"?! 😳 Honestly, it doesn't look like food to me at all... But people in Japan actually eat it! It's called hoya, or "sea pineapple." Would you try it? 😄

今の握り寿司は、きれいなひと口サイズ。🍣 でも江戸時代には、おにぎりくらいの大きさのものもありました！ 今のお寿司とはずいぶん違うし、ちょっと食べづらそう……。 でも、当時の人にはごちそうだったのかなぁ😊

In Edo-period Japan, farmers bought human poop for fertilizer. Why not use their own? They did, but needed more. Edo (now Tokyo) had plenty. In 1843, villagers asked officials to lower the price of poop. If only mine were worth money nowadays... 😅
