In the ongoing Deno vs Oracle JavaScript trademark case, Oracle claims "relevant consumers do not perceive JAVASCRIPT as a generic term" and that it is clearly associated with Oracle products. Do you agree?
@JavaScriptDaily wait they actually said that? LOL
@JavaScriptDaily I'm sure 5% have misread the question. (It's 95 to 5 at the moment)
@JavaScriptDaily I use JS every day. I've never heard any developer mention Oracle having anything to do with JS. The 5% who voted "Yes" read the question wrong or are Oracle bots.
@JavaScriptDaily Who actually said yes? Did they read the question / do they work for oracle? I’ve never heard anyone, in over ~15 years refer to JavaScript and oracle in the same statement outside that it’s dumb that they have the trademark or about that they have the trademark.
@JavaScriptDaily I associate JAVASCRIPT with Ecma International, the non-profit standards organization from Switzerland. But sure, I am not a "relevant consumer". The definition of which might have changed recently, meaning "someone with brain worms", if I interpret this stupidity correctly.
@JavaScriptDaily Someone should tell Oracle that Javascript is not a scripting smth for Java.
@JavaScriptDaily wtf and no I won't search for something else instead
@JavaScriptDaily This has to be a joke but it’s not unfortunately
@JavaScriptDaily The less you regard as associated with Oracle the better! They claimed a number of products and technologies and none of those saw improvements ever since, imho. Worst case: incorporating MySQL, so that searches for either MySQL or Oracle SQL now get mixed up.
@JavaScriptDaily Who would want to be associated with a programming language that 100% of developers hate? 🙄
@JavaScriptDaily What Oracle products exactly? Or they try to fool themselves now?
