Putin is giving a masterclass on energy geopolitics. You may not enjoy it (if you are an European consumer, like I am), but he's showing why and how fossil fuels still mater. He's also showing the myopic short-term-ism of many European -- and German in particular -- policymakers.
@JavierBlas Fossil fuels killing the world, there are many ways to produce clean energy, only if the big money invest in new energy technologies...
@JavierBlas Yes and no. Temporary yes, but chess is not played with blunt force instruments. People have long memories, and this probably just damages Russia’s standing in people’s minds, not helps it. No one likes being squeezed in the hour of need, so not a way to make friends.
@JavierBlas He who has the fossil fuels wins the game over the next ten years.
@JavierBlas And for once (maybe….more) everything he is saying is truth
@JavierBlas Alas, in the case of German politicians it has something to do with the lack of mental capacity to grasp the most basic principles about different energy sources. Decisions were driven solely by the short-term sentiment in the hope to win over voters.
@JavierBlas @ZMoose12 Enjoyed Patin saying that natgas is low carbon. Client replied “Yep, like hedge funds, it’s all relative”.
@JavierBlas I don’t think fossil fuels mother but they do matter.
@JavierBlas @staunovo it sounds like that he still is in USSR
