Instead of demanding a return to school, people should be demanding the right resources and environments to ensure a safe return to school. You wouldn’t demand the immediate take off of a plane with broken windows, a malfunctioning gauges, and no landing gear…
Many of those demanding the reopening of all schools, are doing so from a place of privilege (or of no kids). MY plane and airport and parachutes are fine… so ALL the planes should have to take off…
@JeromeAdamsMD We are essentially the only country in the world that has school closures for this.
@JeromeAdamsMD Understand the analogy, but if teachers being a highly vaccinated set, & kids are extremely unlikely to have severe disease, what makes it so unsafe now, with a milder variant? Especially when considering the many costs of them NOT being in school. Curious on that?
@JeromeAdamsMD Hmm we had 2 years to fix ventilation, improve systems and ramp up supplies and testing. I think the airline industry would have had all the gear it needed to fix one place or replace it
@JeromeAdamsMD The thing is, the airlines have been given $200 billion and 18 months to get themselves flight ready.
@JeromeAdamsMD I agree. Instead of attacking teachers let's denote resources to make classrooms safer. Testing, ventilation, HEPA filters, resume mask mandates which are foolishly being discontinued in the face of a surge.
