A detailed look at the pros and cons of the Eagles drafting Lane Johnson's successor in the first round phillyvoice.com/eagles-nfl-dra…
@JimmyKempski Good read: Question. Which on would YOU rather see? Do you think it’s working for the Eagles to give up pick 50 to move up to 14 to draft Fautanu or stay at 22 and draft Mims or DeJean?
@JimmyKempski Don't be fooled by the smoke screens. Seems to me that Howie wants the league to think they are going to draft a tackle in Rd 1. He will take one later in the draft.
@JimmyKempski Would you view Mims as someone you could try having compete with Steen for RG?
@JimmyKempski There are no negatives. Lane Johnson is 34 and missed 16 games last 4 years. 3 of the starters on line spent at least a year on bench. Mailata is the ultimate outlier using him as an example never works. Most of the lineman they drafted late are mediocre players.
@JimmyKempski Good work as always. While drafting for need can be dangerous, the starting CB opposite of Slay isn’t on team RN, & it’s nonsensical to draft player who will sit when you have other big needs. If it’s a trade or pick, CB is better choice unless it’s the 170 lb Wiggins.
@JimmyKempski Con: They have both tackles set to start in 2025 and 2026. They have 0 corners set to start in 2025 and 2026. If you want to draft a tackle that can play guard in 2024 then awesome. If you are drafting a tackle to sit for a couple years. Terrible use of resources.
@JimmyKempski Its Howies biggest flaw to draft guys in 1st rd who dont play. And so far between Dillard, Reager, J Davis and Nolan Smith it hasnt really worked out. Even if a guy can play Guard then what was the point of using a high 3 on Steen last year?
@JimmyKempski I think we’ve all accepted the fact that OT will be the pick It makes too much sense. There are a ton available, Howie likes the learn from the Vet approach and trying to move up to get a Top 2 CB will take draft capital we can’t afford to give up.
