@the_olawunmi Marriage & children aren’t a must do milestones, and nobody owes society an explanation for how they choose to live their lives. 👀

The ability to adjust your vocabulary to suit whoever you're speaking to is an underrated life skill that many people lack.

After 38 years of living, I have come to realize that making money and having money is an energy thing. When you are depressed, unexcited about life, and have nothing to look forward to, your chances of making money can become very slim. But when you are excited, happy, and in a good mood, your chances of making money can increase because you become more willing to try new things, take risks, explore opportunities, and believe that things can work out in your favor. So, one thing I want you to understand today is this: No matter what you are going through, try as much as possible to put yourself in a joyful mood. Stay excited about life as you pursue whatever it is you are trying to achieve. Your energy influences your actions, and your actions influence your results. Sometimes, the first step towards changing your financial situation is changing the state of mind from which you approach life.

Only First Class and Second Class Upper graduates should qualify to become teachers. Teachers’ starting salaries should be a minimum of ₦500,000 per month. Teachers should be required to take professional qualification examinations every two years. There should be an Education Bank where teachers can access very low-interest loans for car financing, home financing and other essential needs. Teaching should be one of the most prestigious and highly respected professions in the country.

1. I have read the comments under this discussion, and there is a pattern worth examining. 2. People gave examples of Indians helping fellow Indians find shops, suppliers, jobs and business opportunities, while Nigerians sometimes hide even simple information from one another: where to buy goat meat, where vacancies exist, how to enter an industry. 3. The usual conclusion is: “Indians help themselves. Nigerians hate themselves.” 4. I think the explanation is deeper. India is enormously diverse, and not every Indian is Hindu. But many Indian communities abroad have built strong family, religious, professional and commercial networks. The important word is *network 5. A network survives because people believe helping another member strengthens the community rather than diminishes themselves. 6. Now compare that with a particular religious culture that has grown powerful in Nigeria. 7. For decades, sections of Nigerian Christianity have taught people to interpret life through suspicion. Household enemies. Village enemies. Enemies pretending to be friends. People monitoring your destiny. Someone trying to steal your blessing. Someone spiritually attacking your marriage, business or promotion. “Die by fire.” “Every enemy of my destiny…” 8. Listen to enough of that language and eventually it affects social trust. 9. Your neighbour stops being merely your neighbour. He becomes a possible enemy. 10. Your successful friend becomes someone whose intentions must be questioned. 11. The person asking how you found an opportunity becomes someone who might eventually “compete with your destiny.” 12. And once a society loses trust, people begin hoarding information. They hide opportunities. They hide contacts. They hide suppliers. They make moves secretly. 13. Why? Because cooperation requires trust. 14. You cannot spend Sunday being taught that enemies are everywhere and expect Monday morning to produce effortless community solidarity. 15. There is another problem. Certain forms of prosperity Christianity have turned success into spiritual competition. 16. Your new house becomes evidence that God answered you. Your promotion proves your prayers worked. Your visa becomes a testimony. Your business becomes evidence of divine favour. 17. Suddenly another person's success can feel like a comparison between whose God is “working” better. 18. That creates competition where community should exist. 19. So two Nigerians can leave Lagos, Enugu or Abuja, meet again in London, Toronto or Houston, and still carry the same psychological baggage. Changing countries does not automatically change culture. 20. If people have been conditioned for years to see rivals, enemies and spiritual threats everywhere, Heathrow Airport does not magically convert suspicion into solidarity. 21. This is why shouting, “Look at Indians! Look at Arabs! Why can't Nigerians help Nigerians?”misses the point. 22. Communities cooperate when their institutions teach belonging, trust, reciprocity and common purpose. 23. If your institutions repeatedly teach suspicion, individual deliverance and invisible enemies, fragmentation should not surprise you. 24. Certain strands of Nigerian Christianity therefore need serious cultural reform. Less obsession with enemies. Less spiritual paranoia. Less competition over blessings. More community. More cooperation. More trust. More teaching that another person's progress does not reduce yours. 25. Until that happens, Nigerians may travel thousands of kilometres from home and discover that they carried the same divisions with them. 26. You cannot preach suspicion for decades and expect solidarity to suddenly appear at immigration. 27. There is no magical formation of love simply because we have arrived in another man's land.

The day you recongnize that you don't need the permission of others to move forward in life, is the day all limitations you have placed on yourself evaporates.

All my life attending concerts, I've not seen a naij artiste show concern and gratitude this genuinely. He just kept saying thank you.

Nobody talks about the part where you have to keep believing in yourself while nothing is working yet.

Appointment setting, cold calling and contract customer service are usually the first roles cut when a client's budget tightens. The work is there but it is just not stable. While you look for the next one, start building a bridge out. What you already do, handling objections, talking to strangers, managing a pipeline, tracking leads in a CRM, transfers well into: Customer Success Account Management CRM / Sales Operations Client Onboarding These roles sit closer to keeping revenue and running operations, so companies tend to hold onto them longer.
