There is an eerie prophecy by Saint Malachy, the 12th-century Irish bishop of Armagh, which says that Pope Francis would be the last Pontiff. A "Prophecy of the Popes" is attributed to Malachy, which is claimed to predict that there would be only 112 more popes before the Last Judgment. Saint Malachy was an Irish bishop who lived in the 1100s. He is known for making a list of prophecies about the future popes of the Roman Catholic Church. His list included 112 cryptic Latin phrases that were supposed to describe each pope, one after another, leading all the way to the end of the world. According to these prophecies, only one pope would come after Pope Benedict. That next pope—Pope Francis—could be the last one. The final prophecy says that during the time of the last pope, terrible things will happen, and eventually, Rome (the city with seven hills) will be destroyed. After that, God will judge everyone. This pope is called “Peter the Roman” in the prophecy. Some people believe this matches Pope Francis. He was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio but chose the name Francis after Saint Francis of Assisi. Interestingly, Saint Francis’s father was named Pietro (Peter in Italian), which adds to the theory that Francis could be "Peter the Roman." Back in 1139, Malachy traveled from Ireland to Rome. While he was there, he had a vision that showed him the names and clues about every pope who would serve until the end of time. He told Pope Innocent II about this vision, but the document was hidden in the Vatican until it was found hundreds of years later, in 1590. People have taken these prophecies seriously. For example, in 1958, just before a new pope was chosen, a cardinal in New York named Spellman took a boat full of sheep on the Tiber River. This was to match the prophecy that the next pope would be called “pastor and sailor,” which turned out to be true. The prophecy about Pope Benedict was "Gloria Olivae," or "the glory of the Olive." He belonged to the Order of Saint Benedict, which is linked to the name Olivetans. So, many people think this matched well. There are more examples where the prophecies seem to fit. Pope Urban VIII was described with “the lily and the rose,” and he was from Florence, which has a lily in its symbol. Pope John Paul II’s motto was “of the eclipse of the sun,” and he was born during a solar eclipse. Pope Pius VI was called the “pilgrim pope,” and he traveled a lot during his time. “The earth takes shape like clay under a seal…” - Job 38:14 That’s not poetic language. That’s a description. Ancient seals were pressed into soft clay…flat in the center, with raised edges and clear boundaries. Sound familiar? Now look at the earth. Flat. Encircled by the Antarctic ice wall. Set and sealed, just like Scripture said. Still think it’s all just symbolic? God revealed the shape of His creation long before NASA, space propaganda, or globe indoctrination ever existed. The Bible didn’t need satellites. It spoke the truth from the beginning.
