🌟✨Yesterday the last 2 chicks fledged. An extraordinary year. Brilliant result from the efforts of so many farmers, land owners, field workers, volunteers, gamekeepers, donors and the local communities. A fantastic outcome for our curlew population. Many thanks to all. 🙏🙏

Had a site visit today with the Dartmoor Pony Heritage Trust who showed me around their newtake at Bellever - the site of the pony and salt lick trial. Apparently before the ponies arrived the newtake was dominated by Molinia - now not so much! The salt licks encourage the ponies…

And I'm not saying I disagree with the consensus. There are plenty of places in the Dales where more tree cover is vital. However there are also many places where tree cover would be highly damaging to both very important habitats and the species they support.
