I wanted to provide an honest follow-up on the costs that may be incurred to install Powershare equipment that comes with the Cybertruck Foundation Series purchase. Included in the original purchase are a $595.00 Powershare home charger, $230.00 Powershare mobile connector & a $1,800.00 Powershare Gateway. For my AWD Foundation Series, this does not include installation. CyberBeast owners get a $4K credit for installation. Tesla contracts out the work for installation & in my case did so with Treehouse. They came out, surveyed my house electrical systems & existing (large) 36.6 KW roof-mounted solar system, & came up with the following installation estimate. I asked them to also look into the possibility of installing at least one Powerwall since this would be able to use the Gateway I have already paid for. They included two in this estimate, but these can be deleted from the estimate if I choose. The final estimate shows that there could be wildly varying costs involved getting Powershare to work on your house, and in my case, this variance seems extreme and highly unrealistic, IMHO. Cost for installation & electrical upgrades of $33,837.50 without the 2 Powerwalls, or $64,275.00 with the 2 Powerwalls is simply beyond what I am willing to accept and means I would need to pay for what is nearly 1/3rd to 2/3rd the price of a second Foundation series Cybertruck! This is about 8-10 times what I had expected when I bought my Cybertruck! I had thought Powershare might be a viable option for me, especially since I already had a huge solar panel system & all related electrical upgrades including a completely new main circuit-breaker panel & new heavy-duty wiring included as part of my solar system installation. I had thought this would make the Powershare installation easier, but apparently, that is not the case. I'll include images of the estimate & related information from Treehouse for my particular installation. I am uncertain what happens to the $2,625 worth of equipment I already purchased in conjunction with my Cybertruck, I presume at some point I will receive this in a box, but I don't know at this time. My intent in presenting this information is to inform viewers and future Powershare customers know there may be much higher costs associated with Powershare installations that you may anticipate (depending on your home situation) & you should keep this consideration in mind when selecting this option once the Foundation Series run has completed. @Tesla @Teslaenergy
I find it interesting the quoted cost to me for 2 powerwalls (and my already purchased gateway which came with my Foundation series Cybertruck) is almost double the cost of 2 powerwalls on Tesla’s website. Yes, this includes labor and materials, but a 85% premium still seems excessive to me. Am I missing an obvious alternative explanation?
@JoeTegtmeyer Joe did you try getting few more quotes? You might as well see how much would it cost to get Span Electrical Panel to handle switching circuits in a smart way!
@JoeTegtmeyer Thanks for sharing. I've got the PowerShare team coming to provide this info for me today. I'm hoping they don't go into that level of crazy work required to install PowerShare for me.
@JoeTegtmeyer I'd get another bid or two.
