This is an important message for all #paramedics. Too often "refusals" are documented when a) the paramedic has led the pt to that decision ("you don't want to go to ED do you?) Or b) there's a blanket "offer" of transport to everyone without a clear and meaningful recommendation

Sadly far too many of these @ShaunLintern up and down the UK in recent times as a consequence of pressure across urgent and emergency care. Ultimately the delay ends up in the community and they can be extensive. Something none of us want but is an absolute reality.
Meanwhile, all these problems in hospitals have knock on effects out in the community. Here a coroner details a 16 hour wait for an ambulance for a man who fell and broke his hip. He then waited 9 hours in A&E:
For me, the secret to minor injuries is having a really good baseline knowledge of anatomy and physiology. 🚑As a paramedic, you don't need to know the names of all the ligaments etc but work as most injuries involve a combination of connective tissues.
