The expanded edition of #Welcome2America includes a full concert by Prince and the NPG at @TheForum in April 2011. One of the many special aspects of the Blu-ray is that it prominently features the late John Blackwell on drums, who played with Prince for 12 years.
John Blackwell first joined the NPG in 2000. "One night after the show Prince came up to me and said, 'My God, you’re unbelievable. I’ll see you soon.' I thought to myself, how’s he going to see me soon? He doesn’t even have my number," John told @ModernDrummer.
By the #Welcome2America era, John Blackwell had become an integral part of the New Power Generation and Prince's live sound. His bass drum pounds like a heartbeat throughout the band's cover of The Time's "The Bird," available on @YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=BGV2uN…

The expanded edition of #Welcome2America includes a full concert by Prince and the NPG at @TheForum in April 2011. One of the many special aspects of the Blu-ray is that it prominently features the late John Blackwell on drums, who played with Prince for 12 years.

John Blackwell first joined the NPG in 2000. "One night after the show Prince came up to me and said, 'My God, you’re unbelievable. I’ll see you soon.' I thought to myself, how’s he going to see me soon? He doesn’t even have my number," John told @ModernDrummer.
