a guy posting horror shorts on youtube is now in the best director conversation. curry barker's first feature cost $800. distributors passed for two years so he put it on youtube for free. focus features just paid $15m for his next one. it's done $448m worldwide. nobody handed him a budget. he built the proof in public until the money came looking for him.

"nobody knows who you are yet" is the underrated part. it means the footage is honest. and honest footage of the beginning is the one thing you can't fake once it works. been directing founder stories for years. the boring days are always worth keeping. you just can't tell yet. Keep going bro ⚡️

Most founders don't have a content problem. They have a story problem. They buy the camera. They commit to documenting the journey. A year later there's a hard drive full of footage and nothing anyone would sit through. The footage was never the problem. Nobody decided what the story was before the camera turned on. That's the part I direct. The arc mapped first. Each episode designed before the shoot. The founder set up to film alone, wherever they are. The edit comes last — it always comes last.
