Florida Coaches Coalition pushing for bill that would pay coaches $15 per hour for a minimum amount of hours worked. In football, it would be $22,500 for head coaches and $11,250 for assistants palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/h…
@JonSantucci @CoachHattenJr Who decided minimum amount of hours… there are some weeks I put over 70 hours. Ten hour days 7 days a week…
The response has been AWESOME, thank you @JonSantucci. A few things: 1. If the state legislature mandates coaching supplements be paid minimum wage, school districts will have to fall in line - similar to the state setting a minimum teacher salary ($47,500). 2. We're not asking for anyone to back up the Brinks Truck... we're asking for MINIMUM WAGE! It's 2024 and coaches in Florida are being paid FAR LESS than their peers around the country. 3. School Districts would still determine post-season pay. 4. For anyone who is skeptical that anything will be done... you haven't been paying attention. Follow us at @PayFLCoaches.
@JonSantucci Other sports don’t put in anywhere near the work football coaches do. Film, game planning, weights, 7 on 7, camps, recruiting for players, it’s not even close. Football is the only year round sport. Other sports have club, travel, and AAU.
@JonSantucci You should run it back from last year and pay us this even though it ain’t enough it’s a start
@JonSantucci This is awesome and great plan and well thought out but there is zero percent chance they will allow us to go from making 5k to 22k no shot and other sports from 3k to 15k they just don’t care enough to allocate those funds
@JonSantucci Intention and concept are great but the Palmetto Expressway has a better chance to not have any type of constriction. #IYKYK
@JonSantucci I just want to point out that if NC did the same thing but just at minimum wage instead of $15, most NC coaches would be getting huge raises—more than double for many
