Bought OTD in 1969: cheap. Pretty terrific soul/Stones/Byrds hybrid with a top 40 hit and intense, punk energy. Picks: Signed DC, Mushroom Clouds, Gazing, Can’t Explain. Surf instro Emotions was used in Medium Cool, great film about 1968 Chicago riot
@JonSavage1966 A great foretaste of the genius that was to come with the next album...!
@JonSavage1966 My favourite Love album..so much energy and emotion in the vocals... thought Forever Changes over arranged and produced
@JonSavage1966 "My Little Red Book," unexpected Bacharach-David composition. That the rest stands up to that was the revelation of Arthur Lee's songwriting talent.
@JonSavage1966 Great debut and what an LP cover, that 1960s Elektra photography is as evocative and iconic as anything from the rightly celebrated Blue Note. Great tracks abound as mentioned by Jon but do not forget Maclean's beautiful "Softly To Me" which pointed to the way ahead.
@JonSavage1966 I got this album minus the cover from a hardware shop in Great Western Road for a reduced price.
@JonSavage1966 Great cover of My Little Red Book as well
@JonSavage1966 a great album snaffled a copy in 1987
@JonSavage1966 I've long loved Love. Four Sail gets most play from me over the years, I think its maybe their most under-rated.
@JonSavage1966 Boop-bip-bip-boop-bip-bip---Yeah! youtube.com/watch?v=fUii9c…
@JonSavage1966 It’s great you posting these albums you’ve collected as a kid. Classic albums. Love debut is so good, the next one more jazzy with expanded line up
