Bought OTD in 1969: the toughest, hardest Brit R&B lp to date. No quarter asked or given. Mystic Eyes is the perfect opener - a live jam captured in the studio - but my vote goes to the mega reverbed Diamond and the bitter London song, You Just Can’t Win
@JonSavage1966 Definitely one of the high points of British R&B, but I’d say the first Pretty Things album was even harder and vital.
@JonSavage1966 In the pantheon of British/Irish R&B from the mid-60s I don't know why Them aren't lauded more. The first two records are excellent.
@JonSavage1966 His vocals on I'm Gonna Dress In Black are incredible. You could see where it was heading
@JonSavage1966 Ahhh ok, didn’t know this was hardest Brit R&B to date
@JonSavage1966 Always wanted a green Corduroy jacket......
@JonSavage1966 The definitive, original recording of "Gloria," written by Morrison, is the best track on the LP and an all-time great. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloria_(T…
@JonSavage1966 Very good album, always had a big thing for I'm Gonna Dress in Black
@JonSavage1966 Great LP, probably the only one to feature most of the original line-up. Pete Bardens didn't play on it, but is on the cover, first of several line-up changes in 65.
@JonSavage1966 Outstanding. The precursors of powerhouse R&B Brits such as Dr Feelgood and the 22-20s.
