John Deere is cutting off 10,000 workers (and their families') health insurance on October 27th. They could just as easily *not* do this, but they want to break the strike. Also: Congress let COBRA subsidies expire on October 1, putting workers on the hook for thousands of $$$.
@JonahFurman @UAW is one of few unions that have a strike fund to cover health expenses #uawstrong
@JonahFurman @VicStewartAdams Sadly, the strike could end & they might still do it. They’re greedy af & they have been for a long, long time. I grew up in farming communities & watched them repo equipment but still maintain a good reputation. It always sickened me & I didn’t understand how they did it.
@JonahFurman @kburton40 I hope that they can hold steady
@JonahFurman @lyzl Kellogg workers went on strike October 5th and we have no idea when our insurance ends but we know it does because of advice given on how to get COBRA. Some people who pay premiums still have it. People who don’t pay premiums may have lost it already.
@JonahFurman Seems like they’d be less under the thumb of John Deere if we didn’t tie health insurance to employers.
@JonahFurman It’s crazy how ✌🏿certain individuals ✌🏿seem to think that they should be the ONLY ones making millions of dollars off of other peoples labor…
@JonahFurman @Berndt_LVS Any billionaire can guarantee health care for that many and never feel it.
