@wildeanambition @ColetteColfer The Cass report is already having a global impact on the unethical and ridiculously ideological practices surrounding GIDS in many countries. Legislation will follow and this will hopefully happen in Ireland too.
@steele_mik28277 @ColetteColfer Irish legislation is ahead of all that. There is no requirement for any medical intervention for any person to be acknowledged in their preferred gender. That's why it's been best practice for almost a decade. Still people oppose it because of their prejudices, nothing else.
@wildeanambition @ColetteColfer Oh, we are aware that gender is was snuck in by the back door mate. I'm talking about PBs and CSHs for under 18s. That's all about to change in Ireland. You watch and see.
@steele_mik28277 @ColetteColfer No it wasn't. That's the excuse you lot give for missing it. It was not only published in advance, there were hearings and debates at Oireachtas all party committee, recommendations+ there was a full debate+ overwhelming vote in the Oireachtas. You just make things up.
@wildeanambition @steele_mik28277 It is publicly acknowledged that the GRA was snuck in at a time when people were caught up with the same sex referendum. It was not debated on tv or radio at the time. Most people were oblivious. The consequences were not examined.
@ColetteColfer @steele_mik28277 That is publicly "alleged" years later by its opponents. The Act was passed 3 months after the referendum+ enacted months later. An Oireachtas Committee held a public examination. The Dail debated in public. Its international best practice requiring no medical intervention. Truth
@wildeanambition @steele_mik28277 Philippa Ryder (who identifies as trans) actually spoke about how it was snuck in during a recent talk to the Department of Foreign Affairs. Ireland is mentioned in the Dentons report as where the GRA was latched on to more popular reform.
@ColetteColfer @steele_mik28277 Well if you don't follow Dail committees, follow the presentations made in public by many groups, read the published reports, follow the published legislation and amendments and votes, you are asleep at the wheel.
@wildeanambition @ColetteColfer @steele_mik28277 So it is the duty of every Irish citizen to stay on top of the minutiae of every piece of legislation, including last minute amendments. And if we aren't able to find time to do this, and if something slips through, then it is our own fault! Is that your argument? 🤡
@JosephAnthonyj @ColetteColfer @steele_mik28277 It's not minute. It's a 9 year old debate that is never off social media. It is a duty to be informed over the 9 years if you want to make a factual contribution. Most don't, they just spread lies+ hate, but the law is there for everyone to read. The Gender Recognition Act 2015.
The 2015 GRA was not all over social media, or even widely reported in the media at the time. Very few people knew about it at the time. The only people who knew about it were the lobby groups who pushed through their amendments. We are informed now, hence the calls for reform/repeal.
@JosephAnthonyj @ColetteColfer @steele_mik28277 Rubbish...it was debated for 16 months.
