Short opening statements are underrated. It's tempting for lawyers to try to get in absolutely everything, but jurors can only remember so much. Better to keep it short and establish a memorable narrative.

@JuddLegum This is true for almost every spoken presentation -- in class, a church sermon, political speech, lecture -- even if it's really good, people stop paying attention after a certain point.
