I have asked that question and answered it. The so-called “church” of the 1500’s had become corrupt, heretical, and teaching a false gospel. For several hundred years before then, there were calls to reform their errors and conform to the God-breathed Scripture. That “church” refused. Instead, they responded with hatred and hostility to the point of executing those who dared to question the doctrines and practices of that “church”…and even those who bravely worked to translated the Bible so people could read it for themselves. Since then, that “church” has evolved into nothing more than a giant Mary cult that preaches a sacramental system of salvation, enslaving its parishioners in religious uncertainty, as it exalts its authority and traditions over Scripture.
