I’ve noticed a plague of pessimism that seems to infect people as they age. Sports aren’t what they used to be. The economy is collapsing. Religion is dying. Society is falling apart. Maybe the world isn’t getting worse. Maybe you’ve just stopped seeing what’s good about it. I hope I never become that person.
What a joke
Agree with the principle. Government shouldn't go after people for their politics. But the last few years had an FBI search of Mar-a-Lago, two federal indictments, a Manhattan felony case, a New York civil case, and a push to keep Trump off state ballots. Where was this post then? "If this becomes the new normal" is doing a lot of work here. The new normal started years ago, and a lot of people cheering then are only worried now that the tables turned. Same rule should apply no matter whose name is on the case.
It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand
Tennessee’s biggest mistake this season might have been starting Faizon Brandon before he was ready. The talent and upside are undeniable, but experience and confidence matter at QB. Watching George MacIntyre grow into this offense, it’s hard not to wonder whether Tennessee would have beaten Texas if George had been under center that day.
Tennessee is becoming a dangerous football team. Jim Knowles is settling in, taking control, and establishing his defensive identity. George MacIntyre is gaining confidence and finding his rhythm at QB. What excites me most is that this team is still growing. The talent is there, the pieces are coming together, and they’re getting better every week. The ceiling for this Tennessee team might be a lot higher than people realize.

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.
