Florida's AG wants digital ID expanded in the 2027 legislative session with age verification at the App Store and OS levels. “The app stores like Apple App Store, Google Play, other marketplaces. They also will be bound by law to ensure proper age verification,” he said. “Kids cannot access apps unless they get permission, explicit permission from their parents. These things are going to save lives.” Requiring age verification, while all the in-app dangers persist, is not going to "save lives." If parents currently cannot be bothered to turn on parental controls that require their permission for app downloads, they aren't going to pay more attention when it's mandated. They'll go through the steps of providing their child's and their government ID and the documentation that shows they are, indeed, the parent or legal guardian of the child so that they can then click the "I approve" box for the child to download apps. No one protects a child like an engaged parent who is willing to spend the time locking down the device, talking to their child about their online activity, and setting real boundaries around tech in the home. This is "government as parent" - they are intentionally selling digital ID and government surveillance as "child safety".

In the tiny Central Georgia town of Milner (population under 1,000), the entire full-time police force just resigned. That includes the chief, the officers, and most of the reserves. Their last day is October 28. The city manager walked out too. What triggered it? Chief Lamar Bunn stood up at a city council meeting and accused Mayor Craig Timmons of secretly putting a GPS tracker on his personal truck. He said it was paid for with the mayor’s own money. No proper process. No heads-up. When people asked the mayor about it, he had no comment. The officers’ resignation letters talked about lost trust, questionable leadership, and a workplace where integrity and accountability no longer seemed to apply. Other gripes like overtime and side-job vehicle rules got mentioned, but the tracker was the flashpoint. So the same people who defend mass surveillance tools aimed at regular drivers decided one tracker on one of their own was a bridge too far. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is expected to cover the town now. Rules for thee, not for me. On full display in a place small enough that the whole police department can fit in a single group text.

The federal judges are easier to identify than the state level judges. I assume there are 100s if not 1000+ foreign born or first-gen American on our benches. MapQuest now shows you Flock and other license plate reader cameras on your route ----- MapQuest, the original software to find your way from point A to point B, is taking on the surveillance state. The free mapping service unveiled a new feature in its mobile app on Thursday that lets users turn on a "surveillance layer" to locate known automated license plate readers, or ALPRs, along their route. MapQuest says the app can identify cameras developed by Flock Safety, Axon Enterprise, Motorola Solutions, and PlateSmart, among others. "The Roads Have Eyes!" the company said in its BlueSky post announcing the new feature.
