Milton Friedman: “In the long run, government will spend whatever the tax system will raise, plus as much more as it can get away with. That’s what history tells us.” “So my view has always been: cut taxes on any occasion, for any reason, in any way that’s politically feasible, as the only way to keep down the size of government.”

🚨PSA: The wording of Question 3 on your ballot is very confusing. Simply put, a vote for Question 3 is a vote to remove constitutional protections and allow EXTREME partisan gerrymandering in Maryland. Vote AGAINST Question 3 to STOP gerrymandering, defend our constitutional protections, and require fairer maps, districts, and representation. #SaveOurVoice #StopGerrymandering #VoteAgainstQuestion3

Justin Verlander's ending was one for the ages. Had to add the moneyball music, because how in the heck can you not be romantic about baseball after something like that?

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott will pay $365k in state & local taxes this year. San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy will pay $6.2 million to California in state & local taxes. Why does any high earner live in Cali or NY? Move to Texas, TN or FL!

"For millions of kids, college sports is not a professional dream. It's the next rung on the ladder. Take away enough rungs and eventually kids stop climbing." Former professional tennis player Patrick McEnroe warns that young American athletes may start questioning the traditional path of college sports as they see rosters filled with older, fully developed players from around the world, some with professional experience. He says the concern goes beyond who gets a roster spot today. It's about what a 15 or 16-year-old believes is possible tomorrow.

Wes Moore says Maryland is “getting punched in the face.” By what — the fact Democrats only control 7 of 8 congressional seats? Question 3 isn’t self-defense. It’s a party with nearly the whole pie demanding the last slice and calling it democracy. Wes Moore should sit on his hands so he stops punching himself. Vote NO!

Maryland will not sit on our hands while getting punched in the face. On November 3rd, the people of Maryland will have a chance to vote YES on Question 3, and decide for ourselves what our democracy is going to look like.

For years, Maryland was considered the poster child for extreme partisan gerrymandering in the nation. Our congressional districts were so unfair, twisted, and distorted that they became a punchline on every list of the worst-drawn maps in America. We appointed an independent, non-partisan redistricting commission that held hearings all across the state and heard the testimony of thousands of Marylanders. The legislature's extreme partisan maps were thrown out by the courts, and the legislature was ordered to redraw fairer maps. These are the ones we currently use today. Our fair maps took eight years to win in Maryland, and the effort received bipartisan praise across the country. Now, to ensure that their partisan, illegal maps can never be thrown out again, the monopoly in Annapolis is attempting to rewrite our state Constitution to clear the way for the same kind of maps that the courts already said violated the law. Let me be clear, the way I've been clear about this for decades: partisan gerrymandering is a cancer on our democracy, and it's wrong no matter who does it. Marylanders, regardless of party, should say NO to extreme partisan gerrymandering. NO to politics as usual. NO to being the worst in America. We are better than this. wbaltv.com/article/redist…

🚨 Maryland’s congressional delegation was split 4–4 as recently as 2000. After the 2002 redistricting map, it shifted to 6–2 Democratic; today Democrats hold 7 of 8 seats. Now Maryland is staring at the possibility of 8–0 Democratic representation if Question 3 clears the way for another redraw. That’s a remarkable transformation in a state where Republicans and independents still make up a substantial share of registered voters. At some point, redistricting stops looking like representation and starts looking like elimination.

If you make this the last thing you listen to tonight before you go to bed I promise you won’t regret it

Bob Seger wrote this song after he heard Robert Redford’s line in The Sting: “It’s 2 in the morning and I don’t know nobody.” It is a pitch perfect song, and this is a pitch perfect performance.

Jamie Raskin has officially jumped off the deep end. Maryland’s congressman is heading to Michigan to campaign with Abdul El-Sayed — the Bernie/AOC-backed Senate nominee pushing Medicare for All, abolishing ICE and cutting military aid to Israel. Apparently representing Maryland isn’t enough. Now Raskin is exporting progressive politics to swing-state Michigan. Maybe spend a little more time worrying about the people who actually elected you.

So let me get this straight: Taxpayer-funded grocery store? Better show a valid ID or you can’t buy milk. Voting for the people who decide how those taxes get spent? A valid ID is somehow “racist” and “oppressive.”Unbelievable.

I know countless millions of people love soccer, and it can be a thrilling game, as we witnessed repeatedly during the World Cup, but it suffers from a fundamental structural flaw. Because offense is in such short supply at this level, scoring is highly dependent on penalties. This means that scoring often comes outside the normal flow of play, and incentives flopping and pretend injuries that are unworthy of grown men—you think someone rolling around the turf in agonizing pain is going to have to be transported immediately to the hospital, then you look up and he’s played another 45 minutes, no problem. Then, there’s the courting of artificial penalties—a player steps in front of another, gets bumped, and proceeds to pretend he got shot. Whatever the other merits of soccer, this stuff is a blight on the game and brings an element of low comedy to even the highest-stakes competition.

When Governor Wes Moore says he wants a task force on “immigrant rights,” every Marylander should hear the quiet part out loud. He means illegal alien rights. Legal immigrants in our state already enjoy full legal protections, special healthcare programs, education benefits, and pathways to citizenship. They followed the rules. They earned their place. What Moore proposes is something else entirely. It’s a taxpayer-funded committee to expand benefits, shield lawbreakers from federal enforcement, and blur the line between those who obey the law and those who don’t. That’s not compassion. It’s an incentive structure that rewards illegal entry while punishing the taxpayers footing the bill and the legal immigrants who did it the right way. The hypocrisy is staggering. Maryland faces a $3 billion budget deficit, skyrocketing utility bills from failed green energy mandates, and a state government that fails audit after audit and struggles to get you the correct mail-in ballot. Yet Moore’s priority is launching another bureaucracy to advocate for people here unlawfully. Explain to the people of Maryland how a task force on illegal alien rights helps pay for their car registration fees or groceries? We don't need more task forces. We need leadership that will focus on Marylanders. It's time to make Maryland livable again.

It feels good to see people in our capital city enjoying their parks again. Turns out, all it took to bring the community back out was cleaning things up and turning the fountains back on.
